Through the years, these songs impacted me in various way shaping who I am and therefore shaping my writing. Of course, these songs are not the only impact songs in my life, but are representative of all of the others.
In 1966-7, Simon and Garfunkel's The Sound of Silence and Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme were two of the first 'vinyl' albums I owned.
The school administration would have been happier if we had chosen, "When you walk through a Storm." I still receive peace when I hear this song.
Caring for the earth has always been important to the boomer generation. This song spoke of those concerns in very graphic details.

I took Music Appreciation in the same semester as Creative Writing. I studied this Bach piece during the time my first story was due. One night, while listening to the piece, words came to me forming a short story. This work was the inspiration for my first story.
